40 years

Do you remember?

1969, age 12 ~  coming home from school for lunch, eating my grilled cheese sandwich and drinking my cocoa, while laughing along with my favourite Sesame Street characters on our black and white, one station only TV.  I knew all the characters and all the songs - in fact this morning I was singing Rubber Ducky along with Ernie on the radio. I hadn't forgotten a word :)

This Sesame Street sketch was a favourite for our oldest boy around age 2.

(pause the music in the sidebar)

He had a little red cowboy hat, cowboy boots, and a gun and holster set ~ he'd swagger around the apartment saying, "I Cowboy X!".

Good times! Such a sweet photo:) I was just sharing my memories of Sesame Street yesterday with my youngest (she's 3). I had fun explaining that when I was little there was no Elmo and how I used to curl up in a big leather chair with my grandmother's dog Mitzi to watch. I wonder if someday I will be singing the SS classics with my grandchildren.

How very cute is that!! 40 years...I was in college in 1969 and didn't get a chance to bond with Sesame street at the beginning :0)

I was fifteen...but got plenty of laughs with the Sesame Street gang with my own children. "Th-a Thount" was always good for a laugh as whenever we had to count anything...a goofy Count like chuckle was always inserted. Later my daughter figured out where the family joke "yup-yup-yup-yup-yup" came from: The aliens skits on Sesame Street!
We watched them on Youtube and were on the floor laughing. Then when Laura made friends with a Swedish girl who loved to cook...well, you can imagine....the Youtubes of the Swedish Chef had them both in stitches.

Thank heaven for Youtube!

It was always on during school in our parts but when our kids were little .. .11 am every week day. .

We only had one channel (maybe two) back in the day...but we got Sesame Street loud and clear...at 11:00 o'clock every morning when my children were young. I was quite a fan, though I rarely watched it myself!

I remember so clearly watching Sesame Street, I would have been about 8 or so when it first came on and I still love it today.

I left a comment on this long ago, don't know where it disappeared to! Our family couldn't help watching Sesame Street with my little brother. My step dad did a great Swedish Chef impersonation. That show is woven in to the fabric of a lot of families! Your little guy is precious. (My own boys were far more Mr. Rogers fans).
