Welcome! I'm glad you dropped in to visit. I live on a little island in the Gulf of St. Lawrence called Prince Edward Island. I've been married to my beloved for 35 years and we've been blessed with 4 sons, a daughter, 4 daughters in law and one darling little grandgirlie!

My blog name, A Sparrow's Home, was inspired by a favourite passage of Scripture ~ Psalm 84. More bio here.

fff ~ blessings

Welcome to

Count your blessings, n
ame them one by one
Count your blessings, see what God has done.

That's the theme song of Susanne and the Friday's Fave Five gang. You can  learn all about this weekly meme at Living To Tell The Story.

1. I've been sick for a good part of this week. And where's the blessing in that, you may ask??

Well . . . my new best friends. They've been here day and night for me :)

and

My electric blanket - perfect for chills and achy bones.

2. A husband who brings home spring sweetness to cheer me up.

3. Sleeping was bit of a challenge this week, but I found a blessing there too. I got up for a drink early one morning and caught this gorgeous sunrise - it only lasted a few moments and then the sky turned dull grey.

4. Today I'm returning to the land of the living. And do you know how I can tell? Because I started to get creative in the kitchen. I always know I am beginning to recover when I start to pull out the measuring cups and mixing bowls.

And here's the result.  A very simple soup.

Dice up butternut squash, apples and onions, cover with chicken or vegetable broth, boil til tender. Blend. Add nutmeg. sea salt and freshly ground pepper. And a dash or two of milk (or cream). A dab of butter tops it off beautifully. So good!

and this chocolate cake which still needs to be iced. I ran out of steam.

5. Sarah brought home my final fave and they really should be outlawed. Banned! Forbidden!! I mean it!

Chocolate Covered Potato Chips?

Smooth sweet chocolate on crunchy salty chips - ridiculous! Who thought of this crazy combination?

Mm mmm! Somebody pretty clever, that's who!

Well . . . that's my five for this week. Hope you enjoyed them!

We finally had some snow this week and the sun is coming out tomorrow. I'm planning to wrap up warmly and head out to get some sun sparkling on snow pictures - at last!!

Thanks for dropping in for a visit.

with love and thanks for you,

Fun and Fabulous Post...except for the sick part:( I love all the foodie pics! Despite being under the weather, you accomplished a lot!
Hope you are fully recovered soon and that the sun will come out again!
hugs and love,
Joanne
P.S. Is Robin Mark not coming this year? How often is your conference in Belfast?

Thank God you're feeling better already! Thanks to the Tylenol and the hot blanket and the flowers from your husband. How thoughtful of him!! That sunrise is awesome. I wouldn't mind a piece of that cake, and I think those potato chips are genius!

Kathie, glad you're on the way to recovery. And I appreciate your humor and optimism even when "under the weather." Your sunset photo is simply amazing. What a wonderful silhouette against such beautiful color. That was certainly a gift just for you...He loves you.

Chocolate covered potato chips!!??
Oh dear me. I hope I don't find those here.
So glad you are feeling better. The soup looks delicious.

You make soup-making sound so easy. I will have to try making your recipe today. The last time you wrote about soup, I tried my own combination and to my surprise, it was tasty. I always put my soups in the blender to cream. That contraption you used looks pretty handy.

I imagine the cake tasted just fine without frosting. :)

So glad you are finally feeling better and hope all is well by Monday.

I went from sympathizing with you, to admiring your baking, to utter hysteria at seeing those chocolate-covered chips. Where can I buy them???? I must have some NOW!

Only a Canadian and a PEIslander to boot, would create chocolate covered potato chips! I've always thought they'd be a good combo. I think we may have bought some when we were there a few years ago too. You'd think I'd remember something as delectible as that wouldn't you?! Glad you're feeling better and I hope you enjoy the weekend. Blessings, Pamela

Whoever thought of chocolate covered potato chips was crazy AND brilliant! I"m so sorry you've been sick. Fortunately you could just rest and enjoy spending time with those two new best buddies. I think I can smell that soup all the way over here :)

Glad you are feeling better! That soup looks delicious. I love making homemade soups. Not so sure about the chocolate covered potato chips though! And what a sweet hubby to bring you flowers. They sure looked like Spring. Glad it was a good week in spite of illness. Hope you recover fully soon!

I'm glad you're feeling better! That sunrise is gorgeous. So are those flowers. I'd love to try those chocolate covered chips except I'd be afraid I'd like them way too much!

That Tylenol Cold has been a lifesaver for me this winter. it manages to keep away the worst symptoms. Glad to hear you're on the mend.
It's a gorgeous day here on the West Coast - almost sweater weather and bright sunshine for these Vitamin D starved west coasters!
and those potato chips - do they come in dark chocolate? That would be the ultimate combination for sure.
