I started playing on Pinterest last summer after I received an invite from my (then) future daughter in law, who was busily gathering ideas for their beautiful wedding!

I'm a visual person so I fell in love with the concept of Pinterest. It's fun to see so many beautiful, creative and innovative ideas in one place.

But . . .

I'm also a very pragmatic person. And I've been trying to discover the best ways to utilize pinterest.

It's been a learning process.

The first thing I learned about pinterest?

It's not pronounced Pin Interest. Oh yes . . . that caused quite a few giggles from a certain girl around the house. (I can pronounce it now, you'll be glad to know)

Second thing I learned?

There is no point to pin every cute craft idea you see online just because you hope that you'll do it. You won't. You couldn't possibly. You are too busy pinning to have time to make anything.

Although I am determined to make this jewelry frame!

and this

Birdseed wreathOh and I can't forget this

Oh dear . . . see what I mean?

Ok - focus Kathie - ahem.

Third thing I learned about pinterest.

It's a great place to keep recipes. I'm busy sorting them out into categories.

Below is a sampling of the "YUM" category.

And, the fourth thing, which I may not only have learned, but quite possibly may have invented . . .

Drumroll please . . . .

Pinterest is a great place for a visual person to menu plan.

I create a board for the week - then repin recipes from my Main Dishes and other food categories. They're pinned on the board for the week and then I'll either delete the board (the recipes are all on the Main Dish or other boards) or I may keep them.

How I would store all these weekly menu plan boards I'm not quite sure. I wish they could nest under one main board called " On the Menu" but I don't think Pinterest has a nesting feature yet.

I love seeing what we will eat for a week in one glance.

And since I'm visual, there's something very appealing about gathering recipes by pictures. Hopefully they'll taste as good as they look!

What about you? Do you pin? Do you use it for anything more than a great storage spot?
